Prevent powdery mildew in grapes

June 1, 2016

WASHINGTON AND MICHIGAN: When it comes to powdery mildew in grapes, the best method of control is prevention. According to Washington State University, instating sound cultural practices can help reduce the likelihood and severity of powdery mildew, but fungicide applications should not be ruled out.

Michigan State University recommends preventive fungicide applications due to the high susceptibility of grapes to this potentially devastating disease.

Syngenta offers several fungicides that help control powdery mildew in grapes, including Aprovia® fungicide. Aprovia offers reliable, long-lasting protection by inhibiting infection and helping prevent the spread of existing infections with the power of Solatenol® fungicide.

As a solo product, Aprovia enables flexibility when choosing tank-mix partners and fits well in rotation with products such as Inspire Super® fungicide and other modes of action to create a full-season disease control program for resistance management.

Growers can rely on Aprovia to help prevent diseases in their vineyards when correct application timing and usage rates are followed. For the prevention of powdery mildew, applications should begin at bud break at a rate of 7 to 10.5 oz/A with a recommended 14 day interval.

Aprovia fungicide is currently approved for use in most states. To learn whether Aprovia is approved for use in your area, visit this page. For more information, talk to your Syngenta representative.
