Optimal Timing for a Corn Fungicide is Quickly Approaching
When applied at VT/R1, fungicides are able to provide the most optimal disease control and the best chance for a positive yield response.
In our recent Know More, Grow More blog, we talked about the 4 benefits of an early fungicide application, which may be the right timing for your operation depending on your fields’ needs. However, to get the most value out of your corn fungicide, we encourage applications at tasseling or early silking (VT/R1).
Research from University of Kentucky Extension indicates that VT/R1 is the optimal time to apply a fungicide for better foliar disease control and maximized yield potential. This is because the largest yield reduction occurs during this stage when corn is under stress.
Diseases like Southern rust, gray leaf spot and Northern corn leaf blight can severely limit yield, but a well-timed fungicide application helps keep them under control, allowing corn to focus on its job of producing high yields.
Since the optimal timing for a corn fungicide application will be here before you know it, we recommend applying Miravis® Neo or Trivapro® fungicide for protection you can count on. Whether you need to apply at V10 – V12 or at VT/R1, Miravis Neo and Trivapro provide greater application flexibility and disease control that lasts from application to harvest.
Powered by a robust SDHI – Adepidyn® technology – Miravis Neo provides unmistakably superior disease control to battle this season’s diseases and help maximize your yield potential. For fields at risk for Southern rust development, Trivapro provides the hardest-working and longest lasting control of damaging rust as well as key leafspot and blight diseases. Plus, both fungicides deliver proven plant-health benefits to help maximize grain-fill, boost water-use efficiency and protect stalk integrity for improved harvest efficiency.
