Harvest Report: Control Chickpea Disease and Boost Quality

June 29, 2018
This agronomic image shows chickpeas.

For chickpeas marketed in the United States, quality is king. Diseases such as ascochyta, powdery mildew, Alternaria blight, rust, and cercospora leaf spot threaten quality and yield.

Daneen Dressler, owner of Stone Mill in Richardton, ND, is a specialty grain buyer, processor and packager. In her area, growers generally check for disease around blossoming and, if needed, begin making fungicide applications shortly thereafter. Her family has been in the business since 1979, so when experienced seed producers tell her what is working for them in the fields, she listens. A couple of years ago she started hearing feedback that those growers saw Aprovia® Top fungicide was providing a longer length of control.

The affinity of Aprovia Top to fungal pathogens’ receptor sites is strong, providing high potency and excellent disease control. It binds to the waxy layers of leaves and is metabolized slowly for longer residual than competitors. Aprovia Top, a combination of Solatenol® fungicide and difenconazole, serves as a valuable resistance management tool.
