Choose a Seed Treatment That is Right on the Mark

Start strong in 2019 by using a seed treatment with proven activity against soybean cyst nematode.
Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing, and that applies to soybean seed treatments, too. While seed treatments need to completely cover and protect the seed, too high of an application rate can actually do more harm than good. That’s why you need a seed treatment that has the right formulation.
The Seedcare Institute™ says the maximum seed treatment application rate should be around 7 fl. oz. per 100 lbs of seed. If your seed treatment rate exceeds this mark, there is less flexibility for adding inoculants and the potential for more application, handling and planting difficulties. Such difficulties include:
Treater Difficulties | Grower Difficulties |
Seeds sticking to the treater | Increased dust-off |
Seed bridging | Increased risk of skips or doubles |
More time spent cleaning equipment | Planter buildup |
Decreased formulation quality | Higher risk of vulnerability to pests, resulting from dust-off and skips |
These unnecessary hurdles from excessive application rates can cost you valuable time and money. Some nematicide seed treatments have to go higher than this recommended range to fit the nematicide component into the formulation, but that is not the case with Clariva® Elite Beans seed treatment.
To ensure you’re maximizing efficiency, make sure you have a seed treatment formulated for both easy application and broad-spectrum protection against soybean cyst nematode (SCN). Clariva Elite Beans is the only seed treatment that delivers season-long lethal activity against SCN. It also offers additional plant-health benefits through a stable, easy-to-use premix, with space still available for adding inoculants.
