Which Caterpillar is Damaging Illinois Corn Ears?

ILLINOIS: According to the University of Illinois Extension, damaged ear tips, missing kernels, and fungal pathogens are all being reported in Illinois corn fields. Several insect pests could be the cause, including:

  • Corn earworm
  • Fall armyworm
  • European corn borer
  • Western bean cutworm
