Application Timing Critical with Post-Emergence Herbicides

June 4, 2018

Halex® GT herbicide 4 pts/A + 2lbs ATZ

While many corn herbicides can be applied post-emergence, it’s important to remember that these products should be applied as early as possible – before weeds are 4” tall – to prevent yield-robbing weeds from competing with the crop for valuable water, sunlight and nutrients. The chart below shows the 12 bushel yield difference in corn treated with Halex GT + AAtrex® 4L herbicide post-emergence when weeds were less than 4” tall versus weeds at 6” tall.

Syngenta recommends Halex GT be tank-mixed with dicamba or atrazine for post-emergence weed control in glyphosate-tolerant corn. Not only will it control emerged weeds, but it will also deliver residual control of grass and broadleaf weeds until crop canopy.
