    UPPER MIDWEST: Weeds compete for nutrients, water and sunlight. They are one of the most problematic pests in our crop production systems. Palmer amaranth was introduced into Michigan via cottonseed meal and hay used for feed in dairy production. We have now confirmed it in a local field where manure was spread.
