    Palmer pigweed hits close to home, literally

    MARKLE, Ind. – Palmer pigweed has reared its ugly (seed) head in fields throughout Indiana and Ohio. Many Syngenta agronomists – including me – have been investigating fields with “funny-looking” pigweeds. In soybeans, a lack of weed control form multiple herbicide applications has allowed Palmer pigweed to completely take over. I now catch myself looking at every weedy field I pass looking for the distinctive long, thick seed head of Palmer amaranth. Weed control programs…
