    Don’t let black scurf steal your potato yields

    NORTHEAST: The potato field looked fine from the road, but as we got out of the truck and waded through heavy wet vines, something didn’t look right. The upper leaves on some of the plants were small and wilting –classic above-ground symptoms of a sinister yield-robbing underground disease called Rhizoctonia solani,also known as black scurf. We dug up the roots and washed them out, which revealed Rhizoctonia cankers on the stolons and damage on the roots….
