  • Resistant Palmer amaranth: It’s a real problem

    ROANOKE, Ind. – Like most farmers, I had heard about (but wasn’t overly concerned with) Palmer amaranth, which is looming as the latest and maybe greatest threat in the line of herbicide-resistant weeds in northwest Indiana. I finally had my first field encounter a couple of weeks ago with this aggressive weed, which I’ve heard one university weed scientist jokingly refers to as “Satan,” and now am finding it in several locations as I travel…
