Alert: Pests Spotted in Mississippi

September 6, 2017

Mississippi – According to entomologist Dr. Angus Catchot, in soybeans there have been sightings of:

  • Soybean loopers

Despite a high percentage of insects, Catchot believes fields may remain safe. Cool weather can help foster viruses, and with low temperatures predicted over the next few days, the possibility of looper virus increases. These diseases have the capability of spreading through fields quickly, destroying large populations of loopers.

To hear more about pests and management solutions, listen to Dr. Catchot’s Pest Patrol update.

For fields that have reached threshold levels, consider Syngenta insecticides like Besiege®.
